Stars of the 1940s

Famous entertainers of the 1940s are sprinkled throughout this book.  Charlie’s girlfriend, Hazel MacKay is a rival of Ethel Merman and she is a muse for Cole Porter.  Joey likes listening to the Glen Miller Orchestra and got to play sax with Louis Armstrong.

The Glenn Miller video above sets the scene of how I imagine Joey singing and dancing at the Hollywood Canteen and chatting with Clark Gable and Bogey.
